Confidential US Military Files Found on Second-Hand MP3 Player
A New Zealand man found 60 pages of confidential US military data on a $15 used MP3 player that he purchased in an Oklahoma thrift shop. The files contain personal details of US soldiers who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as information about equipment manifests.
USB storage devices are widely used by servicemen and women in the field. It’s critically important that our nation’s military deploy secure USB storage devices like the IronKey to prevent this type of data mishap.

This is extremely interesting, considering just yesterday I blogged on the incompetence of the Ministry of Defence (see it here: http://blog.mylaptopgps.com/2009/01/26/ministry-of-defence-admits-over-217-laptops-have-gone-missing/) to protect the data of the Royal Army, Navy, and RAF. However, they didn’t lose just one USB device. They’ve lost over 217 laptops, 47 desktop computers, 80 hard drives and 96 USB storage devices.
